John 'The Hitman' Ainsworth
Co-Editor
A former rugby Lion who now turns out in the amateur leagues, Johnny ‘The Hitman’ Ainsworth has often been compared to his namesake, Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton. The parallels are uncanny: as well as enjoying a beer and a kebab, both men spend large chunks of their sporting career unconscious. After being knocked out for the sixth time in one season, Johnny woke up convinced England were a better side than Wales. Now nearing full recovery, the Leicester fan has established Scrumdown Magazine, harnessing his unquestionable passion for the sport with his extensive knowledge of the game.

Dean ‘The Hedgehog’ Stacey
Correspondent
Recently graduated from Falmouth University College, Dean’s writing ability belies his youth and inexperience. Already making a name for himself as a terrific sports journalist, Dean is quickly establishing himself as a fantastic signing for Scrumdown, combining a good attention to detail with an enthusiastic attitude, often submitting articles before a deadline has been set. And to cap it all, Dean’s hair curls up into a ball if you poke it with a stick.

Ross ‘Big Red’ Hancock
Correspondent
A masochist of sorts, Ross regularly suffers the indignity of dressing up in a red and white shirt and watching Gloucester play rugby. Out of such desperate suffering emerge fantastically written articles on the Guinness Premiership. A new addition to the squad, Ross’ love for the game is obvious, while his knowledge is underlined by his astute reviews. We all wish him the best for the new season playing for Penryn and promise to stop mentioning the EDF Cup-final.

Lorna ‘Widget’ Evans
Accounts
Accountant Lorna Evans’ thoroughness is well known at Scrumdown. She once stayed up all night trying to track down the mistake she made while counting sheep. When she does drift off, she often dreams about Lewis Moody. Not only an accountant but a rugby fan too, Lorna provided a great moment during last season’s Six Nations when she suddenly jumped up out of her seat and shouted ‘run fatty, run!’. When co-editor Johnny arrived back, somewhat out of breath, he realised she’d been shouting at Lee Mears on the TV.

Gurps ‘The Slurp’ Chahal
Art Editor
No-one really knows much about The Slurp or the world he occupies. What we do know is that every month we e-mail him a collection of ramshackle pages which he pops into his special electric machine. What comes out is Scrumdown Magazine. Now if that isn’t testament to his abilities as a graphic designer, then we’re not sure what is.
